I’m excited to share some fantastic news from our BORA rescue centre in East Borneo, and it’s all thanks to your amazing support.
In August, we opened the BORA Information Centre!
My name is Rara and I am the assistant manager at our BORA rescue centre. Today I am excited to share with you all about the power of support.
The BORA Information Centre is located at the entrance of our BORA rescue centre, and is designed to spread awareness and foster love and protection for our precious orange cousins – the orangutan. 🦧
We held a small opening ceremony to launch the information centre, celebrating this incredible new space with our team and primary school students from the local community.

At the BORA Information Centre, everyone is welcome to come and learn about orangutans and their rainforest homes. Students, teachers, parents and families all have the opportunity to learn about orangutans, and discover ways to help protect the species and the precious rainforest habitat they depend on for survival.
Part gallery, part library and part school, the information centre is full of books, posters, stickers, toys, and conversations that will help foster the next generation of wildlife guardians in Borneo.
Plus, because the education centre is located right alongside our BORA rescue centre, the local community can learn about all of the amazing orangutans currently in rehabilitation through photos and talks from our team! This offers a unique and exciting experience for people to connect with orangutan conservation, by learning about individual orangutans, their stories, and their personalities.

Students have been studying at home for weeks now because of the smoke and haze caused by the wildfires spreading through Borneo, so it was extra special that the air was clean enough for these bright young students to come and spend some time at the information centre.
As more students visit the centre over the coming months, our team hopes to improve the centre with more games, toys, educational posters and interactive activities.
